The Institute of Kenya Economic Affairs (IEA Kenya), hosted officials from Think Tank Initiative (TTI) on Wednesday 15 February, 2017 at the Institute’s Board Room. The visiting team comprised of IDRC’s Think Tank Initiative Program Leader Dr. Andrew Hurst, Ms. Julie Lafrance Senior Program Specialist - Capacity Development and Training and Dr. John Okidi Senior Program Officer based at IDRC’s regional office for Eastern and Southern Africa. The visit’s main aim was to monitor some of the research projects IEA has conducted for the past  two years. Also, the team wanted to know more about some of the challenges the Institute is facing in light of project implementation and even in terms of funding.

Programme Officers led by Mr. John Mutua, informed the team that the Institute conducts evidence-based research, policy analysis and policy recommendations to the government, private sector, development partners and other stakeholders for implementation. Mr. John Mutua further said that IEA does policy analysis especially on budget. We have been conducting budget analysis for the past two decades and IEA is known for that, said Mutua. IEA is one of the pioneer and renowned Institutions in Kenya when it comes to public policy analysis, research and advocacy.
The IEA does policy analysis and recommendations through the Citizen’s Alternative Budget, The Policy Magazine, The MPs Budget Guide, Policy briefs, Research papers, Trade notes and Media Notes, Memoranda’s, Blog posts and Opinion Pieces/Op-eds.
