Hard and industrious work is our guiding values at the IEA, which helps us to achieve our strategic goals as an Institution. However, an overtaxed mind loses all social spirit making the personality dull. As the old adage goes “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”. On 31st May 2017 the IEA family took a day off policy research and analysis to enjoy a team building exercise at the Palatial Gardens in Karen.
The staff took part in several fun activities, with groups competing against each other and points awarded to the winning side. It was also an opportunity for the team to get to know each other better and the things they enjoy doing, bringing a better understanding and relationship that allows us to among others: work on improving morale, leadership skills, to bond and appreciate each other, improve communication skills, team work, improving and nurturing innovation and creativity and to develop trust in one another as they share in the mission and vision of the organization.
Team building creates a platform for providing an upbeat and powerful team experience that resonates with the working place, while aiming at boosting team performance. It promotes effective communication, effective working relationships, cooperation and more importantly trust. Activities undertaken here are designed to motivate, identify and pool talents together and help team players perform better not only at individual level but at organizational level as well. During the team-building event, Mr. Eliud Wasike, the facilitator, emphasized the spirit of teamwork.
