IEA Ranked Best among its Peers - Think Tank Initiative 2018 Policy Community Survey

According to policy community survey conducted by IDRC Think Tank Initiative in partnership with GlobeScan, Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA Kenya) has an excellent performance as compared to its peers out of the 17 think tanks surveyed in eight African countries. The survey was done to measure policy effectiveness in research and communication.

The ratings were based on the outputs and their usefulness. These outputs include; institutes publications, reports, website content, newsletters and any other written communication. The ratings were done on a scale of 1-5 with 1 being poor and 5 being excellent. In terms of Institution indicators, IEA Kenya out-shined their peers in the following areas; quality of research and knowledge making policy process. With regards to output ratings, IEA performed way better than its counter parts and some of these areas include; objectivity, quality of recommendations, accuracy and clarity of research, relevance and timeliness with excellent ratings.

The survey also sought to find out familiarity with specific think tanks among stakeholders, the overall performance of the think tanks and how strong they influence public opinion and IEA had very high ratings for these with ratings above the average.
