Regulation and Competition Programme(RCPP)

Overall Goal

The main goal of the regulation and competition policy programme is to facilitate the formulation and implementation of appropriate economic regulation and competition policy in Kenya

The regulatory policy review has concentrated on the laws and institutions that regulate certain economic sectors. In the initial design of the programme it was intended that it would focus on the areas in which the connection between the law and the economy would be most evident.

Objectives

  1. To facilitate the appreciation of the benefits of economic competition in Kenya's economy
  2. To facilitate the review and identification of the policy reforms necessary to increase economic productivity in Kenya's key industries
  3. To review existing regulatory policies and make proposals for the institutionalization of cost benefit approach to all regulatory policies
  4. To prepare policy proposals for legal, regulatory and competition policy reforms
